Privacy Policy
Last Updated: April 2026
Introduction
DodgyElma ("we", "our", or "the app") is an iOS game published by the DodgyElma team. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. By using DodgyElma, you agree to the practices described here.
Summary — What to Know in 30 Seconds
- We collect a small amount of data to save your progress, sync across devices, keep the leaderboards honest, and fix crashes.
- We do not sell your data.
- We use Google Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging) and Apple Game Center as core third-party services.
- The app integrates Google AdMob. Advertising may appear in a future update. You will be asked for permission before any ad-related tracking takes place.
- You can sign in anonymously — no account required — and you can delete your data at any time by uninstalling the app or contacting us.
Information We Collect
Account & Identity
- Firebase user ID (UID) — a pseudonymous identifier generated on first launch. Used to save your progress.
- Display name and email address — only if you choose to link your account via Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. These are used to show your name on leaderboards and let you recover your progress on a new device.
- Game Center identifier — if you use Game Center, Apple manages this identifier. We receive only what Apple shares (your Game Center nickname for leaderboards).
Gameplay & Progress
- High scores, best times, stars per level, gems, coins, selected bird skin.
- Daily Challenge attempts, streak counters, and leaderboard entries.
- Session statistics (number of pipes passed, power-ups used, deaths) — used for analytics and to validate leaderboard submissions.
Diagnostics
- Crash reports (via Firebase Crashlytics) — including stack traces, device model, iOS version, and a pseudonymous identifier, so we can diagnose and fix crashes.
- Analytics events (via Firebase Analytics) — screen views, level completions, power-up usage, session length.
- Coarse location — Firebase Analytics infers country/region from your IP address. We do not collect precise GPS location.
Support & Device Context
To help us answer support emails quickly we store a small, non-personally-identifying technical snapshot with your save profile:
- Support code — a 7-character code (e.g.
A7K-92F) derived one-way from your Firebase UID. Visible to you in the in-app Settings. Lets us find your account when you email us.
- Device model identifier (e.g.
iPhone15,2) and iOS version — helps us reproduce bugs you report.
- App version and build number — tells us which release you are running.
- Locale and time zone (e.g.
en_IN, Asia/Kolkata) — used to diagnose Daily Challenge streak issues and plan localization.
- Identifier for Vendor (IDFV) — an anonymous per-publisher UUID supplied by iOS. It resets when you uninstall all of our apps. Apple permits this identifier without a tracking prompt. We use it to count distinct devices without tracking you across other publishers.
We do not collect your device's assigned name (e.g. "Abhishek's iPhone"), your phone number, your contacts, photos, precise location, advertising identifier (IDFA), carrier, or network details.
Notifications
- APNs push token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) — if you opt in to notifications. Used to send daily reminders and event announcements. You can disable notifications in iOS Settings at any time.
Advertising (future)
The app includes the Google Mobile Ads SDK. Ad-related features are currently disabled and no ads are served. If and when ads are enabled in a future update, you will be presented with Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt. Personalized advertising depends on your response to that prompt. Non-personalized ads may still be served if you decline.
How We Use the Information
- Provide core functionality — save progress, sync across devices, submit to leaderboards.
- Improve the app — understand which features are played, where players get stuck, and what crashes.
- Send optional notifications — daily reminders or event alerts, only if you opt in.
- Prevent cheating — we validate leaderboard submissions against session stats to keep boards fair.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data to train advertising profiles outside of the AdMob integration described above.
Third-Party Services
DodgyElma integrates with the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy that governs how it handles data on its end.
Data We Store Locally
The following is cached on your device using iOS UserDefaults or the app's sandboxed file system, in addition to being synced to the cloud where noted:
- Game settings (sound, music volume, selected bird).
- Offline session data — queued for upload the next time the device has an internet connection.
- Local high scores and recent replays.
Local data is removed when you uninstall the app.
Children's Privacy
DodgyElma is appropriate for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 beyond the pseudonymous identifiers described above. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information (for example, by linking a Google/Apple account), please contact us and we will delete the associated records. The app complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) to the extent applicable.
Your Rights and Choices
- Access and export: Contact us to request a copy of the data associated with your Firebase UID.
- Delete: Uninstall the app to remove local data. Contact us (see below) to delete your cloud save and leaderboard entries.
- Unlink: Remove your Apple or Google account from the app in-game; we keep only the anonymous UID afterward.
- Disable notifications: iOS Settings → Notifications → DodgyElma.
- Decline tracking: When ads are enabled in a future update, you can decline the App Tracking Transparency prompt or revoke in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
GDPR (European Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the UK, GDPR gives you additional rights:
- Lawful basis: We process data under legitimate interest (app functionality, fraud prevention), contractual necessity (leaderboard submissions), and consent (optional sign-in, notifications, future personalized ads).
- Access, rectification, erasure, portability: Contact us to exercise these rights.
- Right to object: You can object to processing by uninstalling the app and requesting deletion of your cloud record.
- Data Protection Authority: You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information as defined under CCPA. To exercise your California rights, contact us at the address below.
Data Retention
Save profile data persists in Firestore until you request deletion or your account is inactive for 24 months. Crashlytics reports are retained per Google's standard retention (currently 90 days). Analytics aggregates are retained per your Firebase project's configured retention (default 14 months).
Data Security
Data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. Data at rest in Firebase services is encrypted by Google's standard infrastructure protections. Access to the backend is limited to authorized developers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International Transfers
Firebase and Google services may store and process data in data centers in the United States and other countries. By using the app, you consent to this transfer.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, when we turn on rewarded ads, add new features, or change how data is used. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top and, where practical, in-app. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
